About the website

How to cite sverigefakta.com

SVERIGEFAKTA.com compiles and presents statistics from external and official sources. Linking to us, referencing us as a source and quoting us to the extent permitted by applicable law is allowed and welcome. SVERIGEFAKTA's own material, however, is not provided under a general Creative Commons licence — larger republication, commercial use or licensing requires written permission. Rights in the underlying source material (for example from Statistics Sweden, Brå or the Swedish Migration Agency) are unaffected by our policy and follow each source's own terms.

Citation and linking

You are welcome to link to SVERIGEFAKTA, reference us as a source, quote our texts to the extent permitted by applicable law, and use individual facts where these are not covered by SVERIGEFAKTA's exclusive rights. Recommended source credit:

Where possible, link directly to the page where the figure appears.

SVERIGEFAKTA's own material

SVERIGEFAKTA's own texts, graphics, charts, visualisations, illustrations, database compilations, processed data, reports, code and other protected works may not be copied, republished, distributed, adapted or used commercially beyond what applicable law permits, without written permission from SVERIGEFAKTA.

This applies to material protected by law. We make no claim of exclusive rights over anything that cannot be subject to such rights under the law, for example individual facts.

Material has previously been published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Licences already granted under those terms continue to apply to the material they covered. The policy described here governs SVERIGEFAKTA's continued provision of its own material.

External and official sources

SVERIGEFAKTA compiles and presents information from many external and official sources, including Statistics Sweden, Brå, the Swedish Migration Agency, Kolada, the Swedish National Agency for Education, the OECD and Eurostat. Rights in such source material are not affected by SVERIGEFAKTA's rights policy.

We claim no exclusive rights over official statistics or other third-party material merely because it is displayed on SVERIGEFAKTA. Every page links to its original sources so you can check the terms that apply there.

See /kallor for the full list of sources.

Commercial use and licensing

For larger republication, commercial use, licensing, data access, API use in products, embeds, reports or other professional purposes, contact us for written permission or a commercial licence. /kontakt

When should you cite SVERIGEFAKTA — and when the primary source?

  • Cite the primary source when you refer to raw figures from Statistics Sweden, Brå, the Swedish Migration Agency, NIER, ESO, the OECD and so on. SVERIGEFAKTA is then only where you found them.
  • Cite SVERIGEFAKTA when you use our own calculations, visualisations, compilations, comparisons or choice of definitions.
  • Cite both when you want maximum transparency — which is what we recommend.

Charts and tables

Charts and tables produced by us may be reproduced in editorial and academic contexts to the extent permitted by applicable law, with a clear source credit in this form:

Source: SVERIGEFAKTA (2026), based on [primary source].

Commercial use or sub-licensing of our charts requires written permission.

If the chart shows primary data without processing by us, credit the primary source first and SVERIGEFAKTA as the rendering.

Datasets and downloads

See /dataset for CSV/JSON downloads. Every dataset has an internal name and version — include both in your reference:

Public API

If you retrieve data through our public API, state the endpoint, date and version. See /api-access for documentation.

Embed a data point (oEmbed)

Every verified data point (/data/SF.METRIC.KOMMUNKOD.ÅR) can be embedded as a read-only box with source and a link back. Paste the data point's link into a CMS that supports oEmbed, or fetch the code directly:

GET https://sverigefakta.com/api/public/oembed?format=json&url=https://sverigefakta.com/data/SF.METRIC.KOMMUNKOD.AR

The response is an oEmbed 1.0 payload of type rich with ready-made iframe code. Time series are also supported (/embed/chart?geo=…&metric=…) and maxwidth/maxheight. Embeds require the source to be credited and the link back to SVERIGEFAKTA to be retained.
