About the website
Accessibility
SVERIGEFAKTA.com should be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or assistive technology. Our aim is to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We do not yet meet it fully on every page — below we describe what works, known limitations and how to report a problem.
What works
- The site is built for keyboard navigation; spot checks show visible focus and a skip-to-content link, but not every page has been tested.
- Focus indicators are visible on links, buttons and form controls.
- The heading hierarchy is semantic (one h1 per page, followed by h2/h3).
- All icon buttons have an aria-label.
- The colour palette uses shared design tokens; contrast has not been systematically measured on every page.
- The dark-mode setting is retained between browser sessions (localStorage plus a functional cookie without an identifier).
- Interactive charts have an alternative text description or a downloadable CSV file.
- Maps can be read as a list through the municipality search /municipality.
Known limitations
- Some complex charts (such as sparklines and dual-axis time series) lack a complete text alternative; a downloadable CSV file is available instead.
- The map (/map) is primarily visual. Equivalent data is available as lists on municipality pages.
- Some historical PDF reports we link to (from Statistics Sweden, Brå, ESO and others) do not always meet WCAG. We cannot control external documents.
How we test
- Spot keyboard checks of individual pages.
- Automated axe checks are run on selected pages during review rounds; they do not currently block publishing automatically.
- Contrast checks against design tokens (--foreground, --muted-foreground and others).
